The Institute aims to promote research and education, provide you with developments in the field of thrombosis and anti-thrombotic therapy, construct guidelines for the use of anti-thrombotic drugs, as well as to develop and coordinate research programs related to thrombosis and antithrombic therapy.
The objectives of the Institute are:
- The development of a research and education network focused on thrombosis and the prophylaxis and treatment of arterial and venous thrombosis.
- The organization of scientific events for the exchange of views and knowledge between the various specialties involved in Thrombosis and Antithrombotic treatment (meetings of the members of the Institute, seminars, workshops, conferences, symposia, etc.)
- The development, implementation and supervision of continuing and postgraduate medical education programmes on thrombosis and antithrombotic treatment
- The development of national guidelines to optimise the use of antithrombotic treatment and treatments for vascular diseases and complications
- The development, implementation and supervision of monitoring programmes for the integration of national and international guidelines on antithrombotic treatment and its complications into everyday medical practice
- To assess the extent to which the guidelines are implemented and to monitor the impact of their implementation on the effectiveness of medical practice
- The establishment of a network for the development of basic and applied research protocols as well as the participation in national and international clinical studies on thrombosis and antithrombotic treatment
- Cooperation with other bodies, public or private, national or international, or scientific societies in order to promote research and education in the pathogenesis, pharmacology and epidemiology of thrombosis
- The documented and responsible information of the public and patients by every available means (printed, electronic) on the developments in the indications and complications of antithrombotic treatment
- Informing the public about the efficacy and safety of antithrombotic drugs and its cooperation for this purpose with Greek and international institutions and scientific companies
